“CONSULTANT SERVICES FOR BASELINE STUDIES IN THE PREDOMINANTLY LOW-INCOME AREAS OF THE SYSTEMS SELECTED FOR REHABILITATION AND IMPROVEMENT UNDER THE SUBSEQUENT YEAR INVESTMENT PROGRAMME (SYIP) OF THE GHANA URBAN WATER PROJECT (UWP) IN SYIP CONTRACT AREA 2, COMPRISING THE EASTERN AND ASHANTI REGIONS”.

TREND is undertaking this assignment on behalf of Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) in 6 towns (Suhum, Asamankese, Akim Oda, Akim Ofoase, Agona/Jamasi and New Edubiase) and 2,350 household questionnaires will be administered. The Consultant services required in connection with this assignment is being provided in two (2) phases as discussed below and referred to as Phases 1 and 2 respectively by the use of BExson.

Phase 1 entails preparation of pre-project baselines for the selected communities, whilst Phase 2 will involve determination of the impact of the pro-poor interventions.

The tasks involved in the two phases of the assignment are outlined below, and presented in detail in sub-sections 3.2 and 3.3.

i. Phase 1
A) Targeting methodology: Develop appropriate selection criteria and methodology for identification of low income population, and their location(s).
B) Survey Methodology: Develop a methodology including for the conduct of field surveys, including determination of sample size(s), etc.
C) Conduct of surveys and determination of Baselines, and;
D) Stakeholder workshop(s) to present the findings of the assignment.

ii. Phase 2

E) Evaluate and estimate the impact of the interventions for pro-poor water supply.
